Lmao it took me 10 mins to read that!
I agree with what you say, but why do you discredit it so much? And you compare it to Linux but what I can't understand is if Linux is so much better then why do people stay with Microsoft?
I'm not arguing with you on this but I think many people also don't use Linux for the same reason as Vista as in they don't like change. For example, a lot of people like to jump on the bandwagon of things as it makes them feel secure and confident.
Another example I would make is the Playstation2. At first there were many faults and problems with it and this was broadcast worldwide. Yet 2/3 years later you could hardly find a street in a MEDC without this console in it.
This is why I believe in Vista a lot.
And I am a bit confused too, you based some of your points on "if" and as much as I can agree with you on this "if" does not fully convince me to believe your idea that Linux/Mac will invent something.
I have no doubt that they will invent 'something' but it will only aim to better Vista on it's weaker areas - for instance with XP, it's great for home use and personal etc etc yes? But then why do a lot of businesses prefer Mac technology. I believe it is because Mac made a 'better' business product than Microsoft because that is were they saw it lack.
Surely you can agree that Vista will at some point take over XP, in my "bandwagon theory" many people now understand Windows and how it works/runs etc; as for Mac/Linux a lot are still unsure. Like in the UK, most people I know and have talked to use Windows 2000/XP/Vista and it is a rarity that you find a Mac or Linux.
And last, I want to thank you Lith most of all because you have helped me through this topic!! You see I take a course in school what teaches me about arguments and persuasion etc and reading this has thoroughly helped me!!!! I owe you one man
