Basically, type in console...
/g_syncronousclients 1
/record "demoname"
/g_syncronousclients 0
/stoprecord (whenever you're ready)
then when you want to watch it...
/demo "demoname"
Here, you can do something with these binds, they are useful.
seta F3 "g_syncronousClients 1;record mydemo;g_syncronousClients 0;echo ^2Recording__Demo!"
seta F4 "stoprecord;echo ^1Stopped__Record!"
As far as editing, demos are saved as .dm_59 files, so it can be tough.
If I were you, I'd mess around with psycho's recommendation from the BAD forums:
----------------------------------------------
good free programs for rtcw vids are:
quake video maker (captured footage together into .avi) -
www.swift-tools.net/Quake/QVM/ irfanview (screenshot editing, helpfull for higher final vid quality) -
www.irfanview.com/ xvid codec (if ur really serious try x264 instead) -
www.xvidmovies.com/codec/ and heres an rtcw mod to help
myhannes.info/wordpress/?p=19 imo QVM > vdub, vdub makes choppy avi's and has a few extra features that really aren't necessary
with those programs its possible to make vids with visual quality as high (and higher) than any found on own-age.com

If you are trying to edit them, I would use something like Sony Vegas. It's pricey, but I downloaded it for free (shhhhh) from FrostWire, like LimeWire, KaZaA, etc. Just P2P Freeware Download Programs.
Put them on the internet with
www.filefront.com/You'll have to sign up for an account but I think it's free.
